Choosing a hearing aid
We start with your hearing needs and the situations in which you want to hear more clearly. Then we discuss comfort, ease of use, features, and budget.
There is no need to choose a model before your appointment. Our team will help you compare the available options and explain the cost.
Common hearing aid styles
Behind the ear
The main part of the device sits behind your ear and connects to a piece inside the ear. These styles come in different sizes and designs.
In the ear
The device fits within the outer ear. Its size and shape depend on the style and your ear.
In the canal
Smaller devices sit partly or more fully inside the ear canal. Their small size can make handling and adjustment more difficult for some people.
Your hearing needs and comfort help determine which styles are suitable. Read the NIDCD guide to hearing aids for more information.
